There is a lot more work involved in making the hardback logbook covers. First the pattern is cut out from natural vege tanned leather then dyed. Oils are added during the drying process to prevent the leather from dehydrating and becoming stiff. Once the leather is dry it is glued together and then hand sewn with waxed saddlers thread. Studs are placed in the main stress areas. Because this leather is easy to mould all the edges are smoothed and rounded off. The final process is the wax seal which protects the leather . Wax is rubbed all over the outer surfaces then rubbed into the leather giving a glossy sheen to the leather.
Because of the thickness and the difficulty to work with this leather, this product will be in limited supply.
